How does the Spanish Christmas Lottery work?
The draw uses five-digit numbers from 00000 to 99999. It follows the traditional system with one drum for numbers and another for prizes. A décimo is one tenth of a full ticket and therefore receives one tenth of the prize announced per full ticket.
The official 2026 programme provides for 205 series and 100,000 numbers. Besides the main prizes, there are smaller prizes and refunds. All numbers have the same chance of winning the top prize; birthdays and popular endings do not improve the odds.
Sharing Christmas Lottery tickets with family, friends or colleagues
When sharing tickets, keep a clear record of the number, each participant’s contribution and who holds the ticket or valid receipt. Written records help avoid disputes if a prize is won.
